...Leave no stone unturned...

THE VOORBEGIN KIBBUTZ PROJECT

I remember a time as child...when people seemed to care...and nothing was asking too much... Where one could have a break down at the side of a road...see a light in the distance and walk a mile to a farmer's house in the dark with only a torch light...knock on the door and be greeted with a huge warm bearded smile, inviting you in for a cup of 'boeretroos' (home brewed coffee)...

One would not only get help, and perhaps also be treated to the "boer aunty's" Koesisters (a golden brown platted fried dough that was dipped in cold syrup...or some 'melktert' "a custard tart sprinkled with cinnamon...but the boer would take you back to your car in his 'bakkie' (pickup truck), and fix your car there on the spot...insisting that you drive back to the house with him, and sleep over...

"You can leave the next morning after a hearty breakfast, because you are 'between nowhere and a rock' and you need to 'span 'n bietjie uit' (relax)...."they would say....

Those days seem very very far off in the distant past...a bygone era where the man was worth more than the clothes he wore, the colour of his credit card...if he even had one, or the politicians he knew...

Today with the Voorbegin Kibbutz Project, our aim is to bring back to life those memories again, and to appeal to the generosity of our people, not just on an individual level...but on a level which will rescue an entire generation of our nation. A Generation which has been thrown under the tainted and misfiring rainbow bus of a misguided majority, who found a scapegoat for their own failures and refuse to face the truth of their own shortcomings head on...

What you will find behind these stones are brave steps and crucial decisions which all who want to participate in-, or contribute to Kibbutz life, will have to take...

I would like to invite you on this journey....and remember who we used to be as a people...and know....we can be that nation again....

All my love..

Catherine
